Steffan has held senior roles in NSW, Queensland and UK government agencies, with expertise in governance, strategic planning, risk management, stakeholder engagement and evidence-based decision-making. Based on Bundjalung Country on the NSW North Coast, he brings a strong understanding of regional communities, natural resource management, environmental sustainability and Aboriginal engagement.
He has led complex projects with Traditional Owners, landholders, government and community organisations across cultural heritage, conservation, land management and economic development. With qualifications in Applied Science and Intelligence Practices, and extensive leadership, analytical and project management experience, Steffan brings a practical, strategic and community-focused approach to governance, with a strong commitment to transparency, accountability and sustainable outcomes for First Nations communities.
