Peter Brandt has been invited onto the Githabul Nation Aboriginal Board as an independent Director. Peter lives on Gayemagal land (Manly in Sydney) within the Eora Nation, which covers the wider Sydney basin bounded by the Hawkesbury River to the north, the Nepean River to the west, the Georges River to the south and the ocean coastline to the east.
Peter spent over 50 years working in the Commonwealth, NSW and ACT public services mostly in the Legal Services Branches of various Departments. Peter holds a Graduate Diploma of Public Law from the Australian National University. His work involved administrative law, making and reviewing administrative decisions, drafting legislation, and appearing before State and Commonwealth Tribunals and Courts. Peter has an interest in Board structures and governance and has provided advice on Board processes and governance for many years.
Having spent a lot of time working in health related portfolios, Peter has an interest in Indigenous related health programs, particularly medical services, housing, water and nutrition.
Peter has also had an interest in native title since Gough Witlam symbolically handed land back to Vincent Lingiari in 1975.
