Cultural Foundations
GNAC’s cultural foundations are grounded in Githabul/Gullibul Country, Truth, Love, LORE, language, Elders, ancestors, families and the responsibilities passed from one generation to the next.
Truth and LORE
Githabul LORE guides cultural responsibility, governance, decision making and the way we care for Country and one another. GNAC is guided by Truth and Love, and by the cultural knowledge passed down by our Elders, ancestors and families.
Country and Custodianship
Country is living, spiritual and central to who we are. GNAC continues the work of custodianship through caring for Country, protecting cultural heritage and supporting respectful engagement within the Githabul ILUA area.
Elders, Ancestors and Families
We honour our Elders past and present, our ancestors and our families. Their strength, knowledge and responsibility continue to guide Githabul/Gullibul People today and for future generations.
Songlines and Sacred Sites
GNAC works to protect and preserve Githabul LORE, including language, songlines, sacred sites and cultural heritage. Sensitive cultural knowledge, sacred site details and restricted information must not be published without approval.
Cultural Safety and Protection
Cultural safety means respecting Githabul/Gullibul People, Country, knowledge, authority and decision making. GNAC expects all engagement to be respectful, truthful and guided by proper cultural and governance processes.
Intergenerational Responsibility
We are returning to our old ways of being and doing, walking in the knowledge passed down from our ancestors and Elders. This responsibility is carried for our children, young people and future generations.
Cultural Knowledge Protection
This website shares public information only. Resricted cultural knowledge, sacred site details, songline infromation, genealogy records and sensitive cultural material will not be published unless approved by GNAC
