Our Story

The Githabul/Gullibul People have a deep and enduring connection to Country, culture, families and LORE. Our stories, laws and responsibilities have been passed down through countless generations and continue to guide us today.

Native Title Journey

The path to recognition of Githabul native title rights involved many years of strength, evidence, advocacy and persistence. Elders, families and community members walked together to uphold rights, protect Country and secure recognition for future generations.

2007 Federal Court Determination

In 2007, the Federal Court of Australia recognised the native title rights and interests of the Githabul People. This determination was an important moment in the long journey of recognition, responsibility and cultural continuity.

GNAC as the RNTBC

Githabul Nation Aboriginal Corporation RNTBC was established as the Registered Native Title Body Corporate for Githabul People. GNAC holds responsibilities connected to native title, cultural authority, the Githabul Indigenous Land Use Agreement, governance, caring for Country and respectful engagement.

Our history continues today through caring for Country, protecting Githabul LORE, language, songlines, sacred sites and cultural heritage, strengthening governance and ensuring future generations continue to walk in the knowledge and strength of our ancestors.cription Here
